Kansas City area homicides for 2017

Here is a list of the victims and when and where they died. The most recent homicides are at the top of each city’s list.

Kansas City

150. Rosemarie Harmon, 55. Dec. 26

About 10:13 p.m., police were called to the 600 block of Spruce Avenue. Officers located two victims suffering from apparent gunshot wounds. The male victim was transported to a hospital in stable condition. The female victim, Harmon, died of her injuries.

149. Darren Kirk, Dec. 24

Kirk was found dead early Christmas morning outside of a house in the 3300 block of East 20th Street. Jackson County prosecutors on Friday charged James E. Johnson with second-degree murder and armed criminal action in the beating death of Kirk.

148. Abdi D. Sanweyne, 27, Dec. 24

Police were called to the 300 block of Garfield Avenue and found a gunshot victim, who died hours later at a hospital. A suspect was taken into custody nearby.

147. Gregory Warrior, 23, Dec. 23

Officers were called to a residence in the 400 block of Jackson in regard to a shooting. Warrior, of Kansas City, Kan., was located at Independence Ave and Cleveland. He was transported to a local hospital where he died. A male suspect was taken in to custody at the residence.

146. Dinora Ojeda, 24. Dec. 22

A woman was found fatally shot inside of a van at 45th Street and Spruce Avenue. She was the mother of two small children and the girlfriend of a man shot and killed earlier this year.

145. Mikayla L. Norris, 18, Dec. 19.

At approximately 6:30 p.m. officers were contacted by Overland Park police in regard to a missing female last seen in their city. Her body was located in a wooded area in the 8500 block of Hillcrest Rd.

A man who had been seen driving Norris’ car, was found dead later that night in Liberty with an apparently self-inflicted gunshot wound, alone inside Norris’ car. The man, Kareem McCoy-Lee, directed people to Norris’ body through Facebook.

144. Travis D. Mills, 25, Dec. 18.

Mills was shot in a parking lot of an apartment complex in the 1500 block of E. 97th Street in South Kansas City, after the victim, suspect and others were involved in a drug deal.

143. JoeGina Davis, Dec. 16

The victim was found fatally shot in the 9300 block of Cable Road. Responding officers found the victim sprawled on the ground along a road.

142. Alexis Mitchell, 16, Dec. 15

Officers responding to 79th Street and Manchester Avenue on Dec. 13 found the victim suffering from a gunshot wound. She was taken to a hospital but died from her injuries several days later.

141. Roderick Torrence, 51, Dec. 15

The victim was found fatally stabbed outside of a car wash in the 800 block of Prospect Avenue. Police said the assailant repeatedly stabbed the victim for seven minutes.

140. Deandre Cooper, Dec. 12

Police responded on a medical call about 11:45 p.m. in the 5500 block of South Benton Avenue. The Kansas City Fire Department had responded to the house after a man had been discovered down inside the home.

139. Dominic Clarkson, 20, Dec. 12

Clarkson was found shot to death outside a bait and pet supply business in the 6900 block of Blue Parkway about 1:15 p.m.

138. Alexxandra C. Sonny Morris, 23, Dec. 11

The victim was found fatally shot near the Kansas City Community Gardens.

Police responded to an ambulance call about 12:50 a.m. Monday at East 70th Street and Kensington Avenue. Arriving officers found the body of the woman near the road.

136. and 137. Daryl Singleton, 57, and Reginald E. Jones Sr., 36, on Dec. 7

Singleton, 57, and Jones, 36, were found shot to death about 7:40 p.m. outside a convenience store in the 4500 block of East 24th Street. Jones’ son, Reginald E. Jones Jr, 18, was charged in the murders.

135. Phillip Degnan, Dec. 4

Kansas City police were investigating a homicide at East 18th Street and Benton Boulevard just after 6:30 p.m. in the 1800 block of Benton Boulevard. Police found one male victim dead in a parking lot of a gas station.

134. Zachary Pearce, 24, Dec. 3.

Pearce was walking home from an evening in Westport when he was approached by the suspect who attempted to rob him then shot him.

133. Dajanna Haislip, 19, Nov. 30.

132. Melissa Byers, 47, Nov. 29.

A Kansas City elementary school student told a school counselor there was a body in her family’s basement.

It was her mother, police said, and her father is charged with murder.

The Jackson County Prosecutor’s Office charged Benjamin H. Byers, 45, with second degree murder in the stabbing death of 47-year-old Melissa Byers.

131. Alton D. Hughes, 51, Nov. 28.

At approximately 3pm officers were called to Independence Ave and Woodland in regard to a person down in the street. Upon arrival, Hughes was located in the street with no signs of life. He was pronounced dead a short time later.

130. Lamon E. Clark, 23, on Nov. 12.

About 4 p.m. police were called to Research Medical Center in regard to two shooting victims. One was pronounced dead and the other was hospitalized. Police thought the men were shot while in a vehicle on 63rd Street near Beacon Drive.

129. Rodney V. Thurber, 52, on Nov. 11

About 6:20 p.m. police were called to the 4600 block of Tracy for a reported shooting. Officers found a man fatally shot.

126, 127, 128. Yessenia “Yoshi” Ahumada, 25, Jennifer Portillo, 30, and Victor Portillo, 30, on Nov. 10

About 10 a.m. police responded to a residence in the 4900 block of East 17th Street for a reported shooting. Officers found three adult shooting victims inside the home.

125. Cynthia Thomas, 47, on Nov. 8

A stabbing was reported about 5:30 p.m. at a Phillips 66 gas station in the 1500 block of West 12th Street near Wyoming Avenue in the West Bottoms. Thomas was killed and another person was injured by a man who used a cane with a knife at the end of it, according to police.

124. Bobbie R. Bailey, 35, on Nov. 2

Kansas City police officers Bailey dead from a gunshot wound lying in the street at 6th Street and Cleveland Avenue. Police publicized they were looking for a person of interest, Anthony Nevels of Kansas City, who turned himself in.

123. Michael Cantwell, 65, Nov. 2.

Jerome T. Roberson, 31, has been charged with second-degree murder and armed criminal action in the Nov. 2 killing of Michael W. Cantwell, who was found shot in the 2500 block of Quincy Avenue.

Roberson faces the same charges in the Oct. 28 fatal shooting of Brandan Ray Brown in Independence.

122. John C. Jones, 34, on Nov. 1

Police were investigating a shooting that left one person dead shortly after 5 p.m. Nov. 1 near East 16th Street and Lister Avenue in Kansas City.

121. Christopher Shaver, 27, on Oct. 26

Shaver was fatally shot in a double shooting about 6 p.m. near East 69th Terrace and Brooklyn Avenue.

120. Harlan K. Dunbar, 55, on Oct. 26

A shooting was reported about 2 p.m. at Seventh and Norton streets on the city’s northeast side where officers found Dunbar down in the street.

119. Tom Pickert, 39, on Oct. 25

Pickert was sitting on his front porch on Wednesday morning when he was shot to death in the 200 block of West 66th Terrace.

118. John Owens Jr., 31, on Oct. 25

Owens was found fatally shot in the Northeast neighborhood of Kansas City in the area of Independence and Elmwood avenues. Officers were called shortly after 8 a.m. for a reported shooting.

117. Lovell J. Smith, 39, on Oct. 24

Smith, of Kansas City, Kan., was the father of three who had just began a new job a week before he was found dead in a Kansas City alley, the man’s mother said.

He was found dead in an alley in the 3600 block of Roberts Street in Northeast Kansas City.

116. Reyanna M. Fisher, 24, on Oct. 20

Kansas City police responding to an emergency call at a home in the 2400 block of East 59th Street found a woman dead inside the house.

115. Melvin Blackmon, 41, on Oct. 16.

Kansas City officers were called to the 8200 block of Lydia Avenue and found the body of a male on the side of the road.

114. Tony Thompson, 37, on Oct. 15

Kansas City police officers responded to a shooting call shortly after 5 a.m. in the 1100 block of Ewing Avenue.

At a residence, they found two individuals who had been shot. One man was dead. The other was transported to the hospital.

113. Marco, Green, 28, on Oct. 28

Police received reports of the shooting at 6:20 a.m. in the East Hills Village Apartments in the 7600 block of Monroe Avenue.

Green was found in the street suffering from gunshot wounds. He was transported to a local hospital but died hours later.

112. Frederick Solomon, 38, on Oct. 6

Officers were called before 11 p.m. Oct. 6 to the 3800 block of Olive Street. They found Solomon inside a residence, dead from an apparent gunshot wound.

111. Orlando Gentry, 30, on Sept. 19

Gentry was found shot on Sept. 19 in front of an apartment building on the east side of East 50th Street and Troost. His 12-year-old stepson had called police to report the shooting about 10 p.m. that night.

110 Alejandro E. Castillo, 30, on Sept. 18

Castillo was killed trying to help a fellow employee during a robbery at 6823 Longview Road in south Kansas City.

109. Del Lee Osborne, 38, on Sept. 16

Osborne was pronounced dead at the scene after police responded to reports of gunfire in a parking garage near 12th Street and Pennsylvania Avenue about 2:45 a.m.

A man was detained at the scene for questioning. He was released pending further investigation

108. Alice Humphrey, 37, on Sept. 14.

Humphrey was found along with Bobby Harris, 35, inside a Kansas City home early Sept 14, in what police said was a murder-suicide.

Humphrey was identified as a homicide victim and Harris died of suicide, police said. Both were fatally shot.

A 16-year-old teen was home at the time of the shooting, which occurred in the 4500 block of Benton Boulevard. Police were called to the residence about 6:15 a.m. on a disturbance call.

107. Andrew Holmes, 23, Sept 13.

The shooting occurred outside the Troost Market in the 8000 block of Troost Avenue. Arriving officers found the victim sprawled near the gas pumps outside the convenience store. Holmes was taken to a hospital, where he later died.

Dante E. Oliver of Kansas City faces second-degree murder charges in the slaying.

106. Marcell T. Smith, 36, Sept. 8.

Smith was killed near East 54th Street and Park Avenue in Kansas City. He was shot and pronounced dead at the scene.

104. Lester Davis, 38, Sept. 4

Police Davis of Kansas City lying down on a sidewalk in the 1300 block of East 89th Street shortly before 9 p.m. Monday. He had been shot. Davis was pronounced dead at the scene.

103. Kendrick Anderson, 27, Sept 4.

Anderson died shortly after midnight, two days shy of his 28th birthday. Officers responding to an injury accident near southbound U.S. 71 and Meyer Blvd. found Anderson shot to death inside of a wrecked vehicle.

102. Dominique Jefferson, 34, Sept. 3.

Jefferson of Kansas City was found shot about 9 p.m. Sunday near Indiana and Garner avenues. Jefferson was later pronounced dead at a hospital.

100. Jasen Byers, 42, on Aug. 26.

Byers was the owner of Our Lifestylez, a clothing shop in the 4800 block of North Oak Trafficway where his body was found early Saturday morning after police responded to reports of a shooting.

99. Jessika Peppers, 32, on Aug. 25.

Kansas City police were called to the 5700 block of Cambridge Avenue. Officers and found a woman suffering from a gunshot wound. Jessika Peppers had been shot to death.

98. Brandon Arnold, 36, on Aug. 24.

Police investigating a fatal shooting in the 9700 block of Noland Road in Kansas City found Brandon Arnold dead from an apparent gunshot wound.

97. Thomas Orr, 30, on Aug. 20.

Police found Orr shot about 8:30 p.m. at Californos restaurant in Westport. He was a Lee’s Summit police officer and school resource officer.

96. Keith Cole, 44, on Aug. 20.

Police found Cole shot on a sidewalk at 12:45 p.m. near Longview Road and Blue Ridge Boulevard

95. Robert Exford, 41, on Aug. 20.

Police found Exford shot in a vehicle at 12:45 a.m. near 33rd Street and Wabash Avenue.

94. Roosevelt Cooper, 18, on Aug. 17.

18-year-old Roosevelt Cooper was shot to death in the parking lot of a Kansas City grocery store one day before he was set to leave for college in Springfield, Mo.

92. Michael High-Frump on Aug. 16.

Police were investigating the city’s latest homicide after the discovery of a dead body about 4:40 p.m. Wednesday near Cliff Drive and North Elmwood Avenue in Northeast Kansas City.

91. Louis Greer on Aug. 15.

Police were investigating a shooting that killed a person Tuesday about 10:10 p.m. near East 45th Street and Norton Avenue in Kansas City.

90. Brezelious Shackelford, 19, on Aug. 10.

Officers found Shackelford down in the street suffering from an apparent gunshot injury just before 9:30 p.m. near 35th and Askew. He was taken to a local hospital and declared dead hours later.

89. Kevin Smith, 28, on Aug. 10.

Officers observed Smith suffering from apparent gun shot wounds shortly before 9 p.m. near East 11th Street and Benton Boulevard in Kansas City. He died at the hospital.

88. Carrie Mae Blewett, 37, found Aug. 4.

The mother of four went missing in July. A passerby spotted Blewett's body along a tree line in the 5100 block of College Avenue.

87. Tamara Randolph, 36, on August 2.

Randolph was fatally shot at a residence near 37th Street and Woodland Avenue.

86. Eugene Webb, 30, on July 31.

Police received reports of a double shooting about 2:50 a.m. near 39th Street and Cypress Avenue. Officers found Webb dead and another one injured.

In the 220 block of Minnie Street.

84. Charles Williams, 32, on July 21.

Police said officers were sent to the 2500 block of Van Brunt Boulevard just after 10 p.m. on a report of a shooting. Officers found Charles Williams, 32, of Kansas City with an apparent gunshot wound on the front porch of a residence.

83. Freddie Nevels, 23, on July 21.

Witnesses told police Nevels was in the front yard of a home in the 3800 block of East Sixth Street when an unknown person shot him about 8:15 p.m. July 21, 2017.

82. Anthony Clark, 41, on July 21.

Clark was shot inside a vehicle at a car wash on Independence Avenue and Wilson, Friday, July 21, 2017.

81. Daveon Cooksey, 25, on July 20.

Cooksey was found shot inside a vehicle near East 28th Street and Walrond Avenue about 5:40 p.m. July 20 and taken to a hospital where he was pronounced dead about an hour later.

80. Jorge Sanchez, 30, on July 19.

Sanchez was stabbed near a Westport sandwich shop. He later died at a hospital.

79. Charles Saulsberry on July 18.

Just before 5 a.m., police responded to the Timber Lakes at Red Bridge Apartments in the 11300 block of Montgall Avenue to a reported armed robbery. Two people reported a person tried to rob them, but one of the victims shot the assailant, who was found dead nearby.

78. Joshua Simpson on July 17.

A man was killed after being shot in 9500 block of Harrison near Bannister and Troost. Police arrested a woman, who was described as a friend of the victim.

76. Thomas Jones, 37, on July 10.

Police found Jones dead from gunshot wounds inside a wrecked vehicle in the 4300 block of Blue Parkway.

75. Ronald Q. Patterson, 65, on July 8.

Ronald Q. Patterson was found fatally shot in a shelter house of Swope Park in the 4600 block of Starlight Road.

74. Frank Elliott Raney Jr., 24, on July 8.

Police found Raney inside vehicle parked on Bannister Road and McGee Street.

73. Dasean J. Davis, 24, on July 8.

Victim was found fatally shot outside of nightclub in the 9900 block of Holmes Road.

71, 72. John W. Waldon, 31 and Andre L. Barnes, 49, on July 1.

Kansas City police found two men shot in the street shortly after 10 p.m. at 28th Terrace and Myrtle Avenue.

70. Darren L. Harris, 46, on July 1.

Kansas City police found a man fatally shot in a vehicle about 9:30 p.m. in the 1600 block of East 80th Street.

69. Willie Reaws III, 45, on June 26.

The victim was fatally shot during drug-induced altercation after being summoned to the 10400 block of East 39th Terrace.

68. Jake A. Wehmeyer, 17, on June 25.

The victim was killed about 4 a.m. when a fight among teenagers broke out during a party at his home in the 9400 block of North Kentucky Avenue and a friend allegedly high on mushrooms ran over him and crashed into the house.

67. Darren Ross, 51, on June 19.

66. Turreze Harris, 37, on June 19.

Police received a call about 2 a.m. about a shooting in the 3800 block of East 71st Street. Arriving officers found Harris, who had been fatally shot.

65. Craig Barksdale, 26, on June 17.

Police responding to a shooting about 11:15 p.m. Saturday found the body of Craig Barksdale in the 8000 block of Troost Avenue.

64. Dornell Rosalez, 24, on June 17.

Police responding to reports of a shooting found the victim about 9:45 p.m. Saturday in the 6700 block of Monroe Avenue.

63. Audrick Warren, 8, June 13.

62. Michael Holmes, 27, on June 12.

Officers found the victim after responding to a shooting in the 4200 block of Monroe Avenue.

61. Robbin Baska, 19, on June 9.

The victim was found fatally shot inside of an apartment in the 100 block of N.W. Harlem Road.

58, 59, 60. Kevin Murrell, 34, Chad Cain, 28, and Cortez Hanley, 28 on June 7.

Victims were found fatally shot inside of a car in the 7100 block of Monroe Avenue.

57. David Abrams, 24, on June 3.

The victim was found mortally wounded in a triple shooting at a residence in the 3100 block of East 63rd Street. Police found a female victim dead from a gunshot wound.

55., 56. Rachel Williams, 23, Annalisha Williams, 24, on June 3.

Officers were called to the 3100 block of East 63rd Street on a reported shooting and found three victims. Two women suffered fatal gunshot wounds. A man and woman also were wounded.

54. Destiny Weaver, 25, on June 2.

Officers responded to Tower Park on a reported shooting at 7:47 a.m. Friday and found Weaver inside a vehicle. Emergency crews pronounced her dead at the scene.

53. Ashley Geddes, 24, on June 1.

Officers found Ashley Geddes dead about 12:55 p.m. Thursday inside a home in the 10500 block of East 45th Place in Kansas City.

52. Chase Hardin, 31, on May 29.

Police found victim in a wooded area near the walking trail in the 8600 block of Woodland Avenue.

51. Donald Watson, 34, on May 28.

Police were investigating the sixth homicide in five days after Watson was found the fatally shot about 3:30 a.m. near 58th Street and Prospect Avenue.

50. John Earl Allen, 42, on May 27.

Police were investigating the fifth homicide in four days in Kansas City after John Earl Allen was beaten to death Saturday about 9:30 p.m. near 22nd Street and Denver Avenue.

49. Lorenzo Mitchell, 18, on May 27.

A double shooting in the 2100 block of Kansas Avenue left Mitchell dead and another man with serious injuries.

48. Ali Griffin, 35, on May 27.

Police were investigating the fourth homicide in Kansas City since Wednesday after Griffin was stabbed to death Saturday in the 3000 block of East 49th Street.

47. Franklin Noland, 15, on May 26.

Police were called to 26th Street and Myrtle Avenue about 11:15 p.m. and found a shooting victim inside a vehicle. He was pronounced dead a short time later.

46. Christopher Hutson, 19, on May 25.

A double shooting near 104th Street and Holmes killed a man and injured a woman in a car with him. She is expected to survive.

45. Antonio C. Hughes, 28, on May 24.

Officers found Hughes shot to death about 7:30 p.m. outside a home in the 5700 block of Bales Avenue.

44. Michael K. Darby, 61, on May 18.

The victim was found on the Indian Creek Walking Trail in the 370 block of West 101 St. Terrace. Cause of death not released.

43. Ned Haywood, 57, on May 17.

Arriving officers find man with critical gunshot wounds inside of a residence at 27th Street and Benton Boulevard. Victim is taken to hospital, where he later dies of his injuries.

42. Lonnie Black, 35, on May 14.

Officers responding to a home invasion 4000 block of East 69th Street find the victim who had been fatally shot by the homeowner.

41. Marcus Haislip III, 3, on May 12.

Victim was fatally shot while riding in a vehicle at 54th Street and Park Avenue with his father and an uncle.

40. Evette Clint, 21, on May 10.

Clint was found at Swope Park about 9 p.m. May 7 in the driver’s seat of a car with a gunshot wound. She died three days later.

39. Caheemi Littlejohn, 25, on May 10.

Pedestrians flagged down patrol officers and lead them to a man found fatally shot at 11th and Prospect Avenue.

38. Timothy Durden, 18, on May 8.

Police find victim outside of a residence in the 8600 block N. Rhode Avenue.

37. Brian Grimmett, on May 1.

Responding to a gunshots fired call in the 3600 block of Benton Boulevard, officers locate a man down in front of a residence.

36. Isabell Adison, 18, on April 30.

Victim is found while police investigating a shooting at Benton Boulevard and Swope Parkway.

35. Austin Cupp, 23, on April 23.

Officers locate victim after responding to during a disturbance involving a weapon in the 3900 block of Denver Avenue.

34. Leonzo Harvey, 38, on April 19.

Officers find victim while investigating an illegally parked car in 3500 block of E. 51st St. They detected “foul odor emanating from the vehicle.”

33. Robert Whitmer, 43, on April 17.

32. Jamon Morgan, 21, on April 15.

Responding to a triple shooting in the 1300 block of Emanuel Cleaver Blvd., police found one person dead and two others with serious injuries

31. Steven Thompson, 49, on April 14.

Thompson was shot and killed in a double shooting in the 400 block of Colorado Avenue.

30. Elaine Segovia, 34, on April 6.

Officers responding to a medical call found Segovia inside of a vehicle at Smart Avenue and Van Brunt Boulevard.

29. Michael Luckey, 29, on April 5.

Arriving officers found Luckey in a wooded area in the 8100 block of Blue River Road.

28. Timothy S. Rice, 57, on April 4.

Officers responded to Red Bridge and Blue River roads on an ambulance call found the victim near a park shelter inside Minor Park.

27. Samuel Lloyd, 54, on April 2.

Lloyd died at a hospital after he was shot just before 1:30 a.m. Sunday in the 4400 block of Norwood Avenue on Kansas City’s far east side.

25. and 26. Marquis A. Clark, 33, and Shakeisha D. Urassa, 37, on March 20.

Clark and Urassa, both of Kansas City, were found shot to death about 10:30 p.m. March 20 in a vehicle that crashed in a ditch in the 6800 block of Blue Parkway in southern Kansas City.

24. Dorron Blackmon, 31, on March 11.

Blackmon was killed and another was injured in a shooting in the 2100 block of East 39th Street.

23. Ricky Boswell, 30, on March 9.

Police responded to a shooting call in the 9300 block of Bales Avenue and found a man dead.

22. Julie Auclair, 52, Jan. 23.

Officers found the body of Julie Ann Auclair in the 6200 block of East Ninth Street. Medical examiner later ruled her death as a homicide.

21. Lonnie M. Montgomery, on March 6.

Police responded to a double shooting in the 100 block North Drury Avenue where they found two men suffering from gunshot wounds. One later died at a hospital.

20. Gregory A. Fields, 29, on March 4.

Police found the victim fatally shot inside of a car in the 3700 block of Garfield Avenue.

19. Michael Hawkins, 32, on Feb. 28

Officers responding to an ambulance call in the 3600 block of Flora Avenue found a man deceased. Cause of death undetermined.

18. Julius D. Harris, 36, on Feb. 28.

Police found shooting victim inside a car parked on the side of the roadway at 39th Street and Bruce Watkins Drive.

17. David C. Lenox, 66, on Feb. 27.

Police responding to an ambulance call found a man’s body lying in the street inside the Willow Creek Apartments complex in the 9900 block of Walnut Drive.

16. Leroy Farris, on Feb. 24.

The shooting happened in the 2500 block of Bellefontaine Avenue. A woman tried to hit a person with a gun during an argument but the weapon fired and struck him as well as another man.

15. Joseph D. Leslie, on Feb. 12.

Police found a cutting victim dead about 3 a.m. in at a residence in the 4200 block of North Bellefontaine Avenue.

14. Michael C. Day, 23, on Feb. 10.

Police responded to a shooting call in the 2300 block of Drury Avenue and found the victim sprawled in the street.

13. Christina L. Cunningham, 23, on Feb. 4.

Missouri State Highway Patrol trooper found victim after responding to what he thought was a stranded motorist.

12. Elizabeth M. Brown, 49, on Jan. 29.

Police were called to the 6600 block of the Paseo and found the body of a woman.

11. Dante Jamal Jefferson on Jan. 28.

Relatives looking for Jessica Runions located the body of a deceased male near South Brighton Avenue and 53rd Street.

10. Darrious Smith , 22, on Jan. 28

A shooting in Kansas City early Saturday took the life of a man, and put a woman in a local hospital.

9. Warren Jackson III, 23, on Jan. 27.

Officers found victim after responding to a shooting call in the 5500 block of the Paseo.

Three men in a dark-colored car reportedly fled the scene after shooting five people inside a third-floor apartment in the 8600 block of East 62nd Street. Ali Brown’s 2-year-old son and a fourth adult in the apartment survived.

1. Donald Coty, 20, on Jan. 10.

Police sent to 12th Street and the Paseo on a reported shooting found Coty dead inside a bullet-ridden vehicle that had stopped in a traffic lane.

42. Unidentified, Dec. 30

One person was shot and killed about 3:30 p.m. in the 700 block of North Ninth Street.

39, 40, 41, Gwinn Green, 53, and two unidentified victims, Dec. 12

A deadly fire that swept through a northeast Kansas City, Kan., home and killed three people early Dec. 12 became a homicide investigation, police said.

Firefighters found two of the victims dead about 3:20 a.m. after responding to a house firein the 800 block of Troup Avenue.

Police later confirmed a third body had been found in the single-story, wood frame home.

38. Javier Perez-Chavarria, Dec. 3.

Perez-Chavarria suffered fatal wounds in a beating in a bar at 1100 Osage Dec. 3. He died Dec. 5.

37. Frank “Frankie D” Davila, 86, Nov. 29.

After a shooting call in the 700 block of Pacific Ave., officers located Davila in the street. The victim was rushed to an area hospital where he later died.

Davila had dropped his sister off and his vehicle was unoccupied and running in the street. In an attempt to deter the theft the victim was dragged, resulting in his death.

36. Tanna Moyer, 28, Nov. 28

Police pulling over a car for speeding in Mission found the body of Moyer, who had been fatally shot.

Mission police spotted the speeding car and pulled it over about 12:30 a.m. near the exit ramp of Interstate 35 and Antioch Road.

Police determined that Moyer, of Overland Park, had been shot near Seventh Street Trafficway and Armstrong Avenue in downtown Kansas City, Kan. An acquaintance was rushing the woman to a hospital, according to Kansas City, Kan., police.

35. December Htoo, 15, Nov. 17.

Htoo, a J.C. Harmon High School student and an immigrant, was shot at the coin-operated laundry where he worked.

34. Antoinne Jones, 25, Nov. 5

Police found Jones shot to death shortly before 5 a.m. in the 2600 block of North 21st Street. Family described Jones as a “sweet-hearted young man,” and a loving father of a 3-year-old son.

33. Darrian D. Stevens, 20, Nov. 3

Police responded to a call on a shooting near 78th Street and Interstate 70 and found Stevens dead of gunshot wounds.

31, 32. Fabian Arriaga, 26, and Jose Morales, 22, Sept. 20

Arriaga and Morales were found in Kensington Park, in the 2900 block of State Avenue. A third man was wounded, according to the Wyandotte County Sheriff’s Office. This is a county case, not a city police investigation.

30. John Calata, 31, Sept. 8

Calata died when he and two other men were wounded when gunmen fired into two cars near the University of Kansas Medical Center complex in Kansas City, Kan.

The shooting occurred around 6:40 p.m. in the 4100 block of Adams Street, and the victims drove to 41st and Booth Street where they contacted police.

29. Kevin Fowler, 29, Aug. 30

A suspect in the killing of Fowler was arrested after forcing a lock down in two small Kansas towns.

Zachary Barnes, 24, was charged in Wyandotte County District Court with second-degree murder.

Fowler was fatally shot in the 1400 block of North 75th Drive.

28. Shannon Keithley, 39, Aug. 18.

Keithley died when she crashed her SUV into a bridge pillar on Leavenworth Road where it crosses beneath Interstate 635. She was fleeing her home and calling 911 after she had been allegedly raped by Orlando Taylor. Taylor was charged with felony murder in her death.

27. Brandon Browne, 15, of Kansas City, Kan. on Aug. 17.

Brandon Browne was shot once in the chest while on a porch in the 2000 block of North Tremont Street. He was the brother of a 15-year-old KCK girl killed nearly 11 months prior.

25. 26. Le’Andrew Vaughn, 17, and Adarius Barber, 16, both of Kansas City, Kan., on Aug. 6.

Vaughn and Barber were in a vehicle in the 6100 block of Haskell Avenue when they were shot. A third teen was wounded.

24. Derrick Horton, 39, of Kansas City, Kan., on Aug. 3.

Horton was fatally shot about 3:10 p.m. Aug. 3 in the 1900 block of North 63rd Street in Kansas City, Kansas.

23. Cornelius Felton, 31, of Kansas City, Kan., on July 22.

Felton died at a hospital after being stabbed in the 3000 block of Parkwood Blvd.

22. Wordell Dean III, 22, of Kansas City, Kan., on July 16.

Dean was found shot to death in the 1200 block of Everett Avenue.

21. Jeffrey Whitmore, 43, of Kansas City, Kan., on July 2.

Whitmore was shot and killed about 3:40 p.m. outside a laundromat in the 4800 block of Parallel Parkway.

20. Ricardo Uribe, 18, of Kansas City, Kan., on July 2.

About 3:40 a.m. three men in their 20s were riding in a vehicle in the 300 block of Waverly Avenue when they were shot at by unknown people. One of the men was killed.

19. Jaiferia Barnes, 28, of Kansas City, Kan., on July 1.

Kansas City, Kan., police found Barnes shot and killed about 6:45 p.m. near First Street and Walker Avenue.

18. Edwin Igo, 49, of Kansas City, Kan., on July 1.

Kansas City, Kan., police found Igo shot and killed about 1:15 a.m. inside a residence in the 4300 block of Lloyd Street.

17. Norris Brownlee, on May 31.

The homicide occurred at 10th Street and Everett Avenue.

16. Walter G. Morris Jr., 56, on May 18.

Morris was fatally shot in the 2800 block of Sewell Avenue.

The victims were fatally shot inside their house in the 1900 block of South Boeke Street.

The homicide occurred in the 900 block of Gilmore Avenue.

11. Oscar Paredes-Barahona, on May 7.

The victim was stabbed on March 28 in the 2300 block of North 5th Street and died on May 7.

10. Tabitha Newbill, 24, of Raytown, on April 22.

Newbill was fatally shot in the 800 block of Troup Avenue during a domestic disturbance.

9. Casey Eaton, 34, of Kansas City, Kan., on April 19.

Eaton, the sister of previous murder victim Pamela Butler, was fatally shot in the 900 block of Kansas Avenue.

8. Christian Escutia, 19, of Kansas City, on April 7.

Escutia was the reported victim of a kidnapping in Kansas City. He was found dead from a gunshot wound in the 200 block of Donovan Avenue.

7. Shelton Estell, 34, of Kansas City, Kan., on March 30.

Estell was found shot to death in the street in the 2200 block of Glendale Avenue.

6. Bryant Anderson, 31, of Kansas City, Kan., on March 13.

Anderson, who was reported missing Feb. 19, was found dead on the roof of a building in the 3300 block of Strong Avenue.

5. Nathan Kiesling, 19, on March 9.

Police found a man shot to death shortly before 10 p.m. outside a residence in the 1400 block of South 35th Street.

4. Michael Dickerson, 56, of Kansas City, Kan., on Feb. 26.

Dickerson was found shot to death outside a residence in the 1800 block of Cleveland Ave.

3. Adam Salazar, 24, of Kansas City, Kan., on Feb. 23.

Salazar was shot at 22nd Street and Parallel Parkway. He was taken to a hospital by ambulance where he later died.

1.2. James Christopher III, 45, and Alfred Vine Jr., 28, both of Kansas City, Kan., on Feb. 7.

The men were found shot to death inside a house in the 400 block of Greeley Avenue.

Merriam

1. Santos Thompson, 44, Aug. 24

Thompson was shot to death after a confrontation about midnight outside his home in the 6800 block of Mastin Drive.

Riverside

1. Davon Rivera-Wright, 20, on Jan. 5

Rivera-Wright was shot to death in the 5300 block of Northwest Karen Boulevard. Police did not release a motive.

Independence

12. Unidentified, Dec. 30.

At about 7:09 p.m., Independence police officers were dispatched to the 300 block of N. Leslie Ave. on a call of shots fired.

Upon their arrival, they located a deceased adult male outside one of the apartments. Detectives are treating this case as a homicide.

10, 11. Ernesto A. Delahoz, 20, and Bradley S. Sartain II, 18, Nov. 25.

Both men were found dead shortly after 12:30 a.m. at the Hawthorne Place Apartments in the 600 block of North Peck Court. Police had been called to the apartment complex for a reported shooting.

9. William Domann, 72, Oct. 30.

Police found Domann in his bedroom on the morning of Oct. 30. He had been restrained and shot multiple times in the head and arm. Nathan Hendricks, 46, of Hermann, Mo., Xavier Otero and Onelio Garcia, both 32 and from Kansas City, Kan., were charged in the killing.

8. Brandan Ray Brown, 29, Oct. 28

Police were dispatched to the 12800 block of East 47th Street on a reported assault and found Brown shot in the face.

A witness told police that a man ran up and shot the victim before fleeing in a red vehicle, according to prosecutors. Another witness described seeing the defendant shoot the victim.

Jerome T. Roberson, 31, was charged with second-degree murder and armed criminal action in Brown’s death and received the same charges in the Nov. 2 killing of Michael W. Cantwell, who was found shot in the 2500 block of Quincy Avenue.

7. Phillip Anderson, 18, Sept 29.

Prosecutors have charged a Pleasant Hill man with second-degree murder one day after a man was found shot to death in a car in the parking lot of an Independence QuikTrip.

Michael T. Dumas, 26, was also charged with armed criminal action in Friday’s shooting.

6. Eluid Lisboa, 46, Sept. 26

Independence police say one person was fatally shot and another wounded Tuesday morning at 600 Peck Court, in an apartment complex near U.S. 24 and Dover Drive.

The shooting was reported about 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at Hawthorne Place Apartments and Townhomes.

5. Christopher Larabee, 38, Aug. 25.

Police found Larabee in the road in the 8700 block of E. St. John Ave. shortly before 11 p.m. with a single gunshot wound and pronounced him dead at the scene. Police took one suspect into custody at the scene but were not seeking any other suspects.

4. Christopher King, 33, on Aug. 17

Patrick L. Barkwell, 51, of Sugar Creek allegedly shot King once in the chest with a .22 caliber Ruger and then drove north on Missouri 291 and threw the weapon into the Missouri River.

3. Holly D. Barrett, 57, on May 16

Police investigated a homicide at a home in the 700 block of East Walnut Street in Independence. Authorities announced the investigation about 8:20 p.m. Tuesday, May 16.

2. Yadira Gomez on Jan. 30

Police were call to a residence in the 600 block of N. Peck Court and woman who had been stabbed to death. A person of interest was taken into custody.

1. William L. Elliott, 41, on Jan. 17

Police responding to a shooting call found the victim in the 1500 block of S. Cedar Avenue.

Raytown

2. Jarron Floyd, 34, on April 3

Jarron Floyd, 34, of Raytown died at a hospital after police found him unconscious with an apparent gunshot wound about 8:15 a.m. Monday in the 7700 block of Raytown Road.

1. Dominique D. Byers, 23, on Jan. 28

A man was found shot to death in the parking lot of the Dirty Bird Bar & Grill, 6600 Blue Ridge Road.

North Kansas City

1. Zachary Thomas Murphy, 19, Oct. 23

Clay County authorities charged a 21-year-old man in the shooting death of a Gladstone teen found on the front porch of a North Kansas City apartment building.

Cole Walker Huff of Kansas City faces second-degree murder and armed criminal action charges in the slaying of Zachary Thomas Murphy, 19.

After shots were fired, officers were called to the residence in the 2300 block of Oliver Drive and found the victim.

Leavenworth

1. Gary Frantz, 54, on Jan. 27

Frantz was shot multiple times in the 400 block of South Esplanade St. Police classified it as a domestic violence case and arrested a female suspect.

Overland Park

2. Henry Gates Jr., 62, on July 19.

Gates was fatally shot inside his home in the 9200 block of Nieman Road. His stepson was arrested and charged with murder.

1. Anthony L. Shuster, 28, on Feb. 2

Shuster was found dead inside an apartment after a double shooting at an apartment complex in the 7500 block of West 106th Street.

Olathe

2. Amy Shaffer Mabion, 36, on July 31.

Mabion was fatally shot in the 24200 block of West 109th Terrace by her husband, who then killed himself.

1. Srinivas Kuchibhotla, 32, on Feb. 22.

Kuchibhotla was one of three men shot at Austins Bar & Grill.

Blue Springs

2. Colby Stephenson, 16, Dec. 18

Police said there was a report of shots fired at 1:50 a.m. in the 1700 block of Northwest Sixth Street. Stephenson was found dead in a front yard.

1. Clinton Peckman, Nov. 9

A 24-year-old Raytown man was charged in the fatal shooting of Peckman outside of a Blue Springs restaurant.

Jackson County prosecutors charged John D. Jeffries with second-degree murder.

Jeffries, also known as John D. Jefferies, was also charged with two counts of armed criminal action and one count of first-degree robbery for allegedly carjacking another victim after the shooting.

Peckman, of Paola, Kan., was fatally shot outside the Bethlehem Cafe in the 1500 block of N.W. Woods Chapel Road.

Miami County

1. Heather Briggs, 23, of Baldwin City, Kan., on July 21.

Briggs was killed after she was intentionally hit by a car early Friday morning in the 31500 block of Look-Out Road, 2 miles west of Paola. Seven people were charged in connection with her death.
