Raymore Walmart to reopen after police determine armed suspect from car chase not inside

The Walmart in Raymore will reopen Saturday afternoon after police failed to find an armed suspect from a car chase who fled inside the store.

The Walmart was closed about five hours while police conducted the search. Police evacuated the store after an armed suspect from a car chase fled into the store about 10 a.m. The chase started in Belton and ended in the store’s parking lot.

The search for the suspect ended about 2:45 p.m. without police finding the suspect, who people believe escaped while the store was being evacuated. The store was expected to reopen about 3:30 p.m.

At least one police dog and a police tactical team were brought in to help with an in-depth search of the store.
