Police have identified two people fatally shot in separate incidents late Sunday night and early Monday morning in Kansas City, Kan.

Police responding to reports of a shooting about 11:45 p.m. Sunday near Sixth Street and Stewart Avenue in northeast Kansas City, Kan., found Hakim Ali, 16, suffering from gunshot wounds.

Ali, of Kansas City, Kan., later died at a hospital.

The second victim, Christopher Lancaster, 36, was found inside a residence about 3:20 a.m. Monday near Second Street and Walker Avenue, also in northeast Kansas City, Kan.

Lancaster, of Kansas City, Kan., was taken to a hospital in critical condition and was pronounced dead later Monday.

Rodney Stewart Jr., 21, of Kansas City, Kan., was charged Tuesday with voluntary manslaughter in connection with Lancaster’s death.

Stewart was in custody in Wyandotte County jail. Prosecutors requested a bond of $75,000.

The latest homicides were the city’s 33rd and 34th of the year. So far, the Kansas City area has seen 145 homicides in 2016.
