The Johnson County sheriff’s office is asking the public to help identify a car believed to have been used in a kidnapping and sexual assault Friday night of an off-duty deputy.

The car appears to be a dark blue, newer model Mazda four-door car, or similar make and model.

The driver is wanted for allegedly forcing an off-duty deputy into the car against her will about 11:30 p.m. Friday in the area of 101 N. Kansas Ave., near the county detention center in Olathe.

According to Darla Jaye, a spokeswoman for the sheriff’s office, the woman was out of uniform and on her way to work when the alleged incident occurred. Jaye also confirmed that the victim was sexually assaulted.

The woman told authorities that she escaped from the vehicle about two hours later in Lee’s Summit, in the area of Interstate 470 and N.E. Woods Chapel Road.

Authorities were unable to supply a license plate number as of Saturday afternoon.

Anyone with information about the vehicle or suspect is asked to call 913-522-0231 or the TIPS Hotline at 816-474-TIPS (816-474-8477).
