Two people arrested in connection with the alleged assault of a Raytown police officer have been charged.
Jaconn E. Griffin, 37, of Kansas City, was charged with assaulting a police officer, felony fleeing and resisting arrest for allegedly striking an officer with his car after shoplifting in Raytown. He is being held on a $200,000 bond.
Tamara S. Griffin, 36, of Kansas City, was also allegedly involved in the shoplifting. She faces municipal charges in Raytown.
A Raytown police officer tried to stop a man and a woman from stealing items from a store in the 10300 block of Missouri 350 Friday morning but was hit by the shoplifters’ vehicle as they fled the area.

Jaconn Griffin and Tamara Griffin were arrested nearby after a short pursuit. Court records do not indicate the relationship between the two.
The officer, who had responded to a larceny call at 10:53 a.m. Friday, was taken to a local hospital with minor injuries and released. No one else was injured.
