$5,000 will expand anti-bullying program

A $5,000 gift from the Lee’s Summit Council of PTAs is being used to expand anti-bullying programs in Lee’s Summit R-7 middle schools.

The gift was given to Lee’s Summit CARES, which already was working with counselors at Pleasant Lea Middle School, to develop a program targeted for seventh- and eighth-graders. Funding provided by the Council of PTAs will continue this effort and expand the program to the Bernard Campbell and Summit Lakes middle schools for both development and launch.

The Lee’s Summit Council of PTAs represents all 24 PTA units within the R-7 district. Presidents of each school unit are invited to monthly meetings where members offer education, address issues and work to promote and support R-7 students and staff members.
