New urgent care center
CareSpot has opened an urgent care center in Overland Park, its second in the city and fourth in the Kansas City area. The new 3,500-square-foot location is at 9507 Antioch Road in the Valley View Shopping Center. The other Overland Park facility is at 7935 W. 151st St. CareSpot’s area centers operate in a partnership with HCA Midwest Health System. CareSpot also operates area centers in Parkville and Raytown.
The Kansas Insurance Department said it will receive more than $500,000 in settlement funds from seven insurance companies following a review of their death benefits practices. The funds represent Kansas’ portion of national settlements with each company. The insurers: ING; New York Life; Lincoln National; TransAmerica, TIAA-CREF; Aviva and Global Atlantic; and Midland.
Durrie Vision CEO
Harry Campbell has been named chief executive officer of Overland Park-based Durrie Vision, which specializes in laser vision correction and refractive surgery research. It is the first time the comapny will be led by a non-physician since its founding in 1991 by Daniel Durrie.
Durrie said in a news release that the appointment of Campbell as CEO “allows me more time to focus on patient care, research, and my work within the refractive surgery industry.”
Campbell has management experience in both startup companies and Fortune 500 firms. He recently led the consumer markets division at Embarq, a former Sprint Corp. operation.
