Quarterback Matt Dercher has thrown nine touchdowns in Blue Valley’s first three games, and the Tigers are still undefeated.
2. Mill Valley (3-0, 3-0)
Beat Blue Valley Southwest, 40-24; Friday vs. Blue Valley
Kansas Class 5A defending state champion Mill Valley is averaging 37.7 points per game on its way to a perfect record.
3. Bishop Miege (2-1, 2-1)
Beat St. Thomas Aquinas, 48-21; Friday vs. Blue Valley North
Joseph Gleason scored both a defensive and offensive touchdown, and Miege rolled to a statement win over St. Thomas Aquinas.
4. St. Thomas Aquinas (2-1, 2-1)
Lost to Bishop Miege, 48-21; Thursday at Blue Valley West
Aquinas showed its first signs of really missing injured defensive end Angel Dominguez, who tore ligaments in his knee during camp. The Saints had trouble stopping Bishop Miege, on the way to a 27-point loss last week.
5. Blue Valley North (1-2, 1-2)
Lost to Blue Valley, 25-7; Friday at Bishop Miege
For the third time in four weeks of the season, Blue Valley North will face one of the top EKL teams.
6. Gardner Edgerton (1-2, 1-2)
Beat St. James Academy, 24-14; Friday at Blue Valley Southwest
After losing its first two games by an average of 30 points each, Gardner Edgerton recorded its first win of the season last week.
7. St. James Academy (1-2, 1-2)
Lost to Gardner Edgerton, 24-14; Friday vs. Blue Valley Northwest
St. James’ introduction to the Eastern Kansas League has not gone smoothly. A five-point victory over Blue Valley Southwest is the only win for the Thunder this season, after a double-digit loss to Gardner Edgerton last week.
8. Blue Valley Northwest (1-2, 1-2)
Beat Blue Valley West, 15-0; Friday at St. James Academy
A week after allowing 38 points, Blue Valley Northwest’s defense bounced back with a shutout of district rival Blue Valley West.
9. Blue Valley West (1-2, 1-2)
Lost to Blue Valley Northwest, 15-0; Thursday vs. St. Thomas Aquinas
Averaging a mere nine points per game, Blue Valley West is struggling to keep up with its EKL counterparts.
10. Blue Valley Southwest (0-3, 0-3)
Lost to Mill Valley, 40-24; Friday vs. Gardner Edgerton
Southwest lost by three and five points, respectively, in the first two weeks of the season. But a trip to Mill Valley yielded its biggest loss of the season.
