Health care honor
Virginia Adams, a registered nurse at Olathe Medical Center, was one of four health care industry workers honored recently by the Kansas Hospital Association.
Adams and the three others received Health Care Worker of the Year awards from the state association at its annual convention in November in Overland Park. They were chosen from a dozen nominees. The four winners each received a cash award of $500.
The association recognized the workers for routinely going “above and beyond the call of duty.”
The Kansas Hospital Association includes 216 member facilities, including 127 full-service community hospitals.
The Kansas Turfgrass Foundation has elected Jeff Eldridge, the certified golf course superintendent at Quivira Lake Country Club, as it president. In addition, Richard Prendergast, a team leader at Ryan Lawn & Tree in Olathe, was named vice president.
The organization also announced new members to its board of directors. They included Tony Goldsby, national product manager for the turf products at Ewing Irrigation in Olathe, and Wes Kleffner, sales representative for Bayer Crop Science in Overland Park.
Residents at the Tallgrass Creek retirement community in Overland Park contributed nearly $60,000 this year to the facility’s staff appreciation fund. The money benefits Tallgrass Creek’s 128 hourly staff members.
