Pie Five’s Johnson County openings
Pie Five Pizza Co. continues its metro expansion with two new Johnson County locations opening their doors this month.
Dave Goebel, former president and chief executive officer of Applebee’s, along with wife Jan, sons Kerry and Kevin and daughter Lyssa, signed a Pie Five franchise agreement in May 2013 for 10 locations under KC Pie LLC, and have since opened restaurants in Lenexa, south Overland Park, Westport and Topeka.
Another Overland Park Pie Five opened earlier this month at 9133 Metcalf Ave., near Wendy’s, and a restaurant is scheduled to open Friday at 6809 Johnson Drive in Mission. A Leawood restaurant — in Camelot Court, 11725 Roe Ave., Suite A — is scheduled to have a grand opening on Sept. 25. The Goebels said they have also leased the former Ruby Tuesday building at 15400 W. 119th St. in Olathe for a scheduled November opening.
The Goebels said the Kansas City area, Topeka, Lawrence, Manhattan and St. Joseph market could have as many as 18 to 20 Pie Five restaurants.
At Pie Five Pizza Co., customers can select from a variety of fresh ingredients, house-made sauces and handcrafted pizza crusts. Pies bake in just 145 seconds in a custom-designed oven. Pie Five also offers fresh salads served in a baked pizza dough bowl, brownies and cookie pies.
