Callie Martin of Raymore-Peculiar is one of five area players selected to represent Missouri in the annual MO-KAN All-Star Softball Series.
Martin, a catcher who has signed to play softball for Missouri, batted .577 with 13 home runs and 40 RBIs last fall for the Panthers, who went 15-13 last season. The batting average and homer total broke single season records at Ray-Pec, and she also set single-season bests in hits (56) and runs scored (47). She finished as the Panthers’ career leader in homers (18) and RBIs (107).
Also selected for the team are Emily Clark and Cierra McGee of Lee’s Summit North, Daphne Plummer, who will play for Missouri State next fall, and Belton’s Madison Hunsaker, who like Plummer will also attend Missouri State.
The rest of the Missouri squad includes Micah Allen and Kelsie Warren of Kearney, Tori Farr of Platte County, Bailey Fowler and Madi Hecker of Blue Springs South, Jennifer Harvey of Staley, Paige Hayden of Fort Osage, Olivia Kinsley of Park Hill South, and Destiny Ojigob of Liberty North.
Kristi Williams, the coach of 2016 Class 4 state runner-up Blue Springs South, will serve as the Missouri team’s head coach. Lee’s Summit West head coach Eric Doane will be one of the assistants.
The MO-KAN All-Star Softball Series is set for June 5 at the Shawnee Mission Softball Complex in Shawnee, Kan. The best-of-three series will start at 5 p.m., with the second game scheduled for 6:30. A five-inning third game will follow if needed.
