New business manager knows the classroom
Sheila Gilchrist, assistant principal at Belton High School, will change jobs in July when she will be become the business manager for the school district.
She replaces Judy St. Louis, who is retiring after 23 years with the district.
Gilchrist, a Belton High School graduate, is degreed in in both education and business administration, which will be helpful as she assumes her new job and continues in her role as the Carl Perkins career and technical education administrator. She has been involved with that program since 2005.
“As a former teacher, coach, sponsor and administrator, I know firsthand how the budget affects each of these positions,” Gilchrist said in a news release. “I will bring a working knowledge of our policies and procedures to the business office where I can analyze processes to determine if there are areas where we can improve efficiency and understanding at all levels.”
