Pleasant Hill golfers finish second in district tournament

Trey Stone tied for medalist honors and led Pleasant Hill to a second-place finish in the Class 3 District 7 golf tournament April 30 in Warrensburg.

Stone shot a 5 over-par 75 at the Mules National Golf Course. He shared individual honors with Grant Beichley of Pembroke Hill.

Pleasant Hill shot a season-low 325 to grab one of the two team qualifying spots for next week’s sectional tournament. The top two teams and 15 individuals not on those teams move on to sectionals.

Pembroke Hill, which had three of the top four individual scores, placed first with a 306 four-player total.

Jordan Hamlin turned in Pleasant Hill’s second-best score with a 79 that placed him in a tie for sixth. Jack Stone tied for 13th with an 83 and Evan Brons tied for 18th with an 88 to round out the Roosters’ team total. Alex Moore shot a 97 and tied for 25th.

Harrisonville placed sixth with a 385 total and advanced two to sectionals. Peyton Holden tied for ninth with an 81 and Nick Laughlin tied for 22nd with a 95.

The Class 3 sectional tournament will take place May 7 at Paradise Pointe Golf Course in Smithville.

Panthers qualify four

Raymore-Peculiar took fifth place and qualified four individuals in the Class 4 District 6 meet at Greene Hills Country Club in Willard.

Senior Chaz Taibi led the Panthers with an 87 that put him in a tie for fourth place overall. Chase Martel tied for 15th with a 91 while Jack Brown and Cole Stocking tied for 21st with 93s.

Ray-Pec’s 364 team score was just three strokes behind fourth-place Joplin. Carthage (349) and Springfield Kickapoo (355) were the team qualifiers.

Belton finished 10th with a 485 and had no sectional qualifiers.

Ray-Pec’s qualifiers will play in the Class 4 sectional tournament May 7 at Rivercut Golf Course in Springfield.

SCA golfers take second

Alex Brown of Summit Christian Academy placed second overall and led the Eagles to a second-place finish in the Class 2 District 7 tournament at Shirkey Golf Course in Richmond.

Brown shot an 86 to lead SCA, which had a team total of 436. Colin Glade finished tied for sixth, Aaron Long 16th, with Joshua Dean and Zijie Zhou also qualifying for sectionals.

St. Michael the Archangel, which finished sixth, advanced three golfers: John DiMarco, Stuart Shatto and Peter Carmack.

SCA and St. Michael will play in a Class 2 sectional May 7 at Greenhills Golf Course in Trenton.
