Out and about: Lee’s Summit Chocolate Crawl and benefit for Blue Springs Dog Park

Downtown Chocolate Crawl is Feb. 7

LEE’S SUMMIT | As Valentine’s Day approaches, so does the annual Chocolate Crawl in downtown Lee’s Summit.

The free event begins at 10 a.m. Feb. 7 at Got Art Gallery, 18 S.W. Third St., where visitors can pick up a map and full-sized candy bar, courtesy of MCC-Longview, while supplies last. Then they can follow the balloons to collect free chocolate treats from participating merchants while shopping for Valentine’s Day.

Customers also can enter to win a Downtown Gift Pack, valued at $500.

For more information, visit downtownLS.org. Sponsors are Spaces magazine, Belle Toffee and MCC-Longview.

Benefit Saturday for dog park

BLUE SPRINGS | A mid-winter event Saturday night promises to get people out of the house while raising money for the Blue Springs Dog Park.

A "Chilly" Dog's Night Out includes food, K-9 demonstrations, a silent auction and prizes. It runs from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. at Vesper Hall, 400 N.E. Vesper St.

Tickets are $7 for adults, $5 for children 4-12 and free for kids 3 and under.

The dog park opened in 2007 on 2.7 acres in Gregory O. Grounds Park, 1049 N.E. 20th St. It has a small pond, shade trees, an area for smaller dogs, a people/canine water fountain and a dog wash area at the park exit.
