Spin Neapolitan Pizza is now offering premium wines on tap at its restaurant at 4950 Main St., just south of the Country Club Plaza. It hopes to soon offer wines on tap at some of its other locations.
“Once you open a bottle of any wine, it begins oxidizing and losing its flavor immediately. The tap wines prevent that from occurring,” said Richard Lozoff, partner in Spin. “They also are more environmentally friendly because there is no glass to throw away or recycle. The barrel — or keg — gets sent back to the producer to be reused.”
Two red and two white wines are on tap, rotated seasonally. Currently the wines are Nobilo Sauvignon Blanc, Cupcake Chardonnay, Mark West Pinot Noir and Concannon Conservancy Cabernet.
The Main Street location also added more craft beers on tap — currently it is serving three beers by Boulevard Brewing Co., as well as beers by Torn Label Brewing Co., Free State Brewing Co., Kansas City Bier Co., Martin City Brewing Co. and Santa Fe Brewing Co.

A new tap handle display is at the front counter to make it easier for customers to select their drink of choice.
All the area locations are now serving a few new menu items by Michael Smith, a minority partner in Spin.
The new dishes that can be ordered as appetizers, side dishes, small plates to be shared, or paired with a salad or soup for a mini-meal are: Calabrian Shrimp Formaggi, Eggplant Parmigiana and Stuffed Mondo Meatball.
There’s also a new lemon ricotta and olive oil spread served with warm flatbread and a new shrimp scampi pizza.
The 5-year-old Main Street location also recently shut down for more than a week for kitchen improvements and to refresh the decor, including new wood floors. Later this month, it will install a mirror printed with a scene of bicyclists wearing Spin jerseys. It will span the south wall of the dining room.
Spin also plans to open a Crown Center restaurant in early March.
