Pets of the Week: Luci and Magica

Age: About 2 years

Breed: Shepherd mix

Sex: Female

Description: Luci was found in January wandering the highway during zero-degree weather, scared, cold and hungry. Luci weighs about 70 pounds. She is kennel trained. She likes some, but not all other dogs, loves people of all ages, is cat friendly and house trained.

Age: Seven to nine years

Breed: Domestic short hair, black with a white bib

Sex: Female

Description: Magica has seen a lot in her life and lost her sister before being returned to the shelter. She is a very timid and shy girl who will need a quiet home to help her heal and learn to trust again. She likes other cats just fine but definitely needs a real “cat person” to understand her.

Adoption information: The Friends of Parkville Animal Shelter at 1356 N. Missouri 9 is run by volunteers, so call 816-587-0918 to schedule an appointment, send email to friendsofparkville@hotmail.com, or go to www.parkvilleshelter.com.

Fees of $125 for dogs and $100 for cats include spaying/neutering, shots and microchips.

Volunteers also take pets for adoption to the Petco store in North Kansas City on Saturdays.
