Park Hill School District
Park Hill South High School: Seniors Trent Neutgens, Chloe Wiser and Ethan Wissmann qualified for international competition by placing first in the University of Missouri-Kansas City RooBuilders bridge-building contest.
Students designed, built and tested balsa-wood bridges according to contest specifications. This is the fifth year a Park Hill South team has won.
Park Hill High School: Volleyball coach Lindsey Hood received the Jarry Thomas Memorial High School Volleyball Co-Coach of the Year award.
The Greater Kansas City Officials Association recognized Hood with the award for her mentoring, motivational skills and knowledge of court protocol.
Platte County R-3 High School
Musicians perform: Two music ensembles, the Sound Express show choir and the Wind Ensemble, appeared on stage at the Missouri Music Educators Association Conference.
They were among six high school choirs and eight bands chosen statewide to perform for the conference from 172 that auditioned.
Kansas State University
Graduates: Several Northland students earned master’s degrees and bachelor’s degrees with honors during the fall semester in Manhattan.
Jessica Laster from Kansas City, North, completed requirements for a master of science degree and Jacob Reimer of Smithville earned a master of business administration degree.
Brooke Hall (magna cum laude) from Kansas City, North, and Jason Warring (cum laude) from Smithville earned bachelor’s degrees with honors. To earn baccalaureate honors, students must have at least a 3.85 grade-point average for magna cum laude or a 3.75 grade-point average for cum laude.
