St. Joseph Schools intiated a lockdown Monday morning as police pursued a driver of a vehicle they believe was involved in at least one shooting in St. Joseph.

School administrators initially put the Webster Learning Center on lockdown and later decided to lock down all schools.

“As a safety precaution, ALL schools in the St. Joseph School District are now on lockdown,” a release stated. “As police continue to investigate a vehicle involved in multiple incidents throughout the city, the safety of our students and staff members is a top priority and therefore all students and staff members will remain in their buildings until further notice.”

The lockdown ended at roughly 11 a.m.

“After an update from the St. Joseph Police Department, district officials believe there is not immediate threat to our students and staff members. Normal school activities can resume,” a tweet from the school system’s Twitter account stated.
