A 32-year-old Kansas City man died Sunday evening when the bicycle he was riding was struck by a Lexus on Independence Avenue.
The crash occurred about 6 p.m. on Independence near Lydia Avenue.
The bicyclist was headed west on Independence when the driver of an eastbound silver Lexus swerved into the westbound lanes for an unknown reason and struck him, said Sgt. Bill Mahoney of the Kansas City Police Department’s accident investigation unit.
The driver continued to drive about a block further before stopping. The bicyclist died at the scene of the crash.
The name of the bicyclist was not released pending notification of his family. The cause of the crash remains under investigation.
