Southbound Interstate 435, already reduced to one lane at 87th Street in Kansas for emergency pavement repair work, will close completely Wednesday and Thursday night.
The closure will begin at 7 p.m. both days and the road will open again to one lane at 5 a.m.
Southbound traffic will be directed off the 87th Street exit ramp and then onto the 87th Street entrance ramp. Drivers should expect delays and consider alternate routes.
The larger project to repair the 87th Street bridge is expected to be completed by late August.
In addition, there will be various lane and ramp closures Wednesday through Sunday at the Interstate 35 and Interstate 435 interchange. That is necessary for pavement marking and bridge deck removal in preparation for the widening of the eastbound bridge over I-35.
