Bitterly cold temperatures to grip Kansas City area again on Christmas Eve

If headed outside, be prepared to bundle up.

A wind-chill advisory was issued through noon Tuesday for the northern part of the area, including Leavenworth, Parkville, Weston, Liberty and Excelsior Springs.

Parts of the region were expected to see wind chill-readings between 15 below and 20 below zero on Christmas Eve morning, according to the National Weather Service in Pleasant Hill.

The coldest readings are expected around sunrise.

In Kansas City, wind-chill values are expected to be as low as 6 below zero on Tuesday, with a high thermometer reading near 28 degrees. There’s a slight chance of snow Tuesday night.

Temperatures are expected to rebound for Christmas Day, with a low in the 20s and a high around 40, but the National Weather Service expects morning temperatures to slide back into the teens on Thursday and Friday.
