A 3/8-cent sales tax for streets was approved handily by Olathe voters in a mail-in ballot.
In final but unofficial results Tuesday, the measure passed 57 percent to 43 percent. Just over 31 percent of registered voters returned a ballot.
The 10-year tax can be used only for street repairs and related projects like curbs and sidewalks. It will take effect April 1 and will bring the city’s total sales tax to 1 1/2 cents.
