Police have arrested a 33-year-old Independence woman for allegedly robbing the Marshall’s store in Merriam.
Prosecutors have charged Amanda Nicole Thompson, 33, of Independence with one count of aggravated robbery.
Thompson was booked into Johnson County jail Wednesday and was being held on $100,000 bond. She is scheduled for her first appearance Thursday afternoon.
Thompson is suspected of robbing the Marshall’s store in the 5800 block of Antioch Road about 7 p.m. Monday.
Police say the robber, who was wearing a Chiefs jacket, handed the cashier a note that demanded money and indicated she had a gun.
Police are investigating whether Thompson might be linked to a similar robbery in Shawnee.
In that robbery, a woman entered the Maurices in the 15200 block of Shawnee Mission Parkway in Shawnee about 5:40 p.m. Tuesday.
The woman took clothes to the checkout stand and handed the cashier a note that demanded money and said no one would be killed, according to police.
That robber was described as 5 feet 6 inches tall with brown hair in a bun. She was wearing a Chiefs jacket, black pants and flip-flops.
She fled with money and clothing in a white Chevrolet Cavalier with a black bumper. No license tag was seen.
