The driver of a tractor-trailer was killed Friday morning in a single vehicle accident in southern Buchanan County. The accident was reported at 8:46 a.m. in the southbound lanes of Interstate 29, just south of Faucett, Mo.
According to initial reports, the driver lost control of the tractor-trailer, causing it to travel off the roadway and strike a large tree. The collision caused the load to shift, killing the driver, said Sgt. Collin Stosberg with the Missouri Highway Patrol.

The driver’s name is being withheld pending notification of relatives. The accident remained under investigation.
Authorities closed the southbound lanes of I-29 and traffic was being divered at exit 35 near Faucett, Mo. The interstate was expected to reopen about noon, according to the Missouri Department of Transportation.
