Kansas City police are investigating the death of a 59-year-old man who died in a hospital last week of injuries he suffered in a stabbing last month at 39th and Main streets.
Curtis Odem, of Kansas City, died Oct. 16, nearly three weeks after being wounded during an argument with a 22-year-old man at a bus stop.
A witness told police he saw the men calling each other expletives just before 10 p.m. Sept. 26 when Odem stood up and reportedly hit the 22-year-old in the face with his bag. The younger man then swung at Odem with the knife, the witness said. Odem clutched his abdomen and sat back down on the bus station bench.
The younger man used Odem’s phone to call 911 for help. Police recovered the knife from the ground near the bus stop.
