Clay County authorities have identified the 19-month-old girl who died of a possible drowning in a pond as Josslyn Crawford.
Fire and emergency crews were summoned to a residence outside of Holt just after 10 p.m. Wednesday. Relatives were trying to resuscitate the child when they arrived.
The toddler was rushed to Liberty Hospital, but efforts to revive her were unsuccessful. The sheriff’s office is investigating the incident but has not released any details, including the specific location of the residence.
Relatives told fire officials that the child had been unaccounted for at least 30 minutes before she was located.
Investigators have spoken to several people, and they are awaiting the results of an autopsy.
