Peak of fall colors still week or two away

Fall colors are coming alive across Kansas and Missouri and have really brightened this past week. Many of the early-coloring shrubs and vines and some trees have reached their peak. But some trees, including most oaks, are predominately green. Recent sunny days and cool nights have been favorable conditions for further color development. Colors in the northeast region of Kansas are peaking. For the remainder of the two states, the peak is still a week away in the north to two weeks in the south.
