Child taken in stolen car found safe

A car with a child inside was stolen from a Kansas City, Kan., gas station Friday morning, but was quickly abandoned.

The child was unharmed, police said.

The incident occurred around 8 a.m. Friday at 77th Street and Parallel Parkway when the thief jumped in the car and drove away. It was found abandoned with the child inside nearby at 77th Street and Armstrong Avenue.

Police said the suspect fled the area in another vehicle. They are continuing to investigate.
