Suspect shot in hand during stand-off with KC police

Police shot and wounded a suspect in an armed stand-off Friday afternoon in east Kansas City.

The man, reportedly wanted on an arrest warrant from Wichita, was shot in the hand after running out of a house holding a gun, police said.

No one else was injured. An ambulance took the man to a hospital.

The incident began late Friday morning when officers were called to the 2900 block of Wallace Avenue after someone reported that a man armed with a knife was trying to break out car windows and get into a house. When police arrived, they were told that the man had entered the house of a relative.

Officers had surrounded the house for about an hour before the man came outside and the shooting occurred.
