Body of drowned Osawatomie man recovered

The body of 19-year-old Harley Hake of Osawatomie, Kan., was recovered Monday evening from the Marais des Cygnes River.

Osawatomie police said the body was found at 6:17 p.m. Hake vanished about 6 p.m. Sunday while trying to swim across the river near the Eighth Street Bridge, according to Osawatomie police.

Witnesses said the current swept him over the dam into the boil below, where he disappeared.

Osawatomie is in Miami County, Kan., south of Johnson County.
