Lee’s Summit woman killed in hit-and-run crash

A two-car collision early Sunday at 31st Street and Euclid Avenue killed a 36-year-old Lee’s Summit woman and sent two other people to the hospital.

Kansas City police said the driver of one of the vehicles — a northbound Chevrolet Cruze — abandoned the car and ran from the accident, which occurred about 2:30 a.m. That person was still being sought several hours later.

The woman who was killed, Elvia P. Walters, was the passenger of a Ford Mustang heading east on 31st. The driver of that car was in critical condition at a hospital, said Sgt. Bill Mahoney.

A passenger of the Cruze that broadsided the Mustang also was hospitalized and is in stable condition.
