Police said officers tried to approach the man, who either resisted or tried to run. It was not immediately clear if the man drew a weapon, or if he was shot by one or more officers. No officers were harmed.
The man’s body was in the grass at the Day’s Inn on Thursday evening while police interviewed numerous witnesses, including members of the man’s family. The taped-off crime scene included part of the nearby QuikTrip parking lot as well as the hotel property.
Capt. Tye Grant, a department spokesman, said the incident was under investigation. The man’s name was not released.
