A Johnson County jury on Tuesday found a Kansas City man guilty of raping a woman in her Fairway home last summer.
Jimmy Dean Crocker also was found guilty of aggravated burglary. His sentencing in Johnson County District Court is scheduled for Sept. 20.
Crocker, 54, did not testify at trial. When questioned after the incident, he denied having been in Kansas on the day of the assault. But Assistant District Attorney Jason Covington presented DNA evidence linked to Crocker.
The 67-year-old victim testified that she had been acquainted with Crocker for several years and he had done handyman work around her home. She had previously spurned his advances, according to testimony.
