A 17-month-old girl who might have been improperly secured in a car seat died of her injuries Monday after a single-car accident Sunday morning, police said.
The girl was identified as Cheekeerah Miracle-Jones. The accident occurred shortly after 7 a.m. Sunday on the exit ramp from eastbound Interstate 470 to Blue Ridge Boulevard. Police said the driver lost control, left the road and drove off an embankment. The girl was ejected from the vehicle on impact with railroad tracks below.
The male driver and the child’s mother sustained non-life-threatening injuries. The child was declared dead at 5:40 a.m. Monday.
