A dump truck with its lift gate raised tore down three power lines in a Northland neighborhood Tuesday afternoon, causing a small power outage.
The apparent accident knocked out power to 75 customers, according to a Kansas City Power Light spokeswoman. Workers quickly got 50 customers back on line, but 25 remained without power about 4:30 p.m.
Police said the truck drove through an area near Northwest 70th Street and North Hickory Avenue about 2:30 p.m., causing the damage, apparently unwittingly. Police said the driver later came back to the scene.
Police were inspecting the vehicle and talking to the driver.
Residents without power can go to Northwest 70th and North Liberty Avenue where an air conditioned ATA bus will provide relief until power is restored, said police spokesman Darin Snapp.
