Death investigation underway in KCK

Kansas City, Kan., police are investigating a decomposed body that was discovered in the city’s northeast area Tuesday morning.

Utility workers made the discovery about 9 a.m. Tuesday in a wooded vacant lot between Second and Third streets along Quindaro Boulevard.

The body was so decomposed that police were unable to determine the person’s gender, race or cause of death.

“It appears to have been there a very long time,” said Officer Tom Tomasic, a police spokesman.
