A Family Dollar cashier refused a gunman’s demands to open her cash register Sunday afternoon in the 3000 block of Prospect Avenue.

Witnesses noticed the robber had been walking the aisles in the store for about five minutes before donning gloves and sunglasses about 2 p.m.
He approached the cashier, pulled a gun and said, “Open it!”
The register already was open, but the cashier slammed it shut and said, “No.”
The robber fled empty-handed.
