Squeeze play: Birmingham, Ala., wants a Negro Leagues museum like the one in KC

After 23 years of laying claim to the only major museum devoted to the history of the Negro Leagues, Kansas City could soon have competition. Alabama’s largest city is hoping to build its own museum devoted to black baseball. Bob Kendrick, president of the Kansas City organization, worries about the financial impact the Birmingham project could have on museum attendance and charitable donations.
