Kansas City police called out the dogs to track something big — really big — that supposedly had slithered out of a stalled car near downtown Thursday evening.
“Do you think one of our K-9s could track it?” an officer asked over the police radio about 7:20 p.m., shortly after someone else suggested asking the police helicopter crew to take a look from the air.
What was missing? A python described as 8 feet long and a foot wide.
It had been inside a car that had stalled near Bruce R. Watkins Drive and Interstate 670, which is at the southeast corner of the downtown loop.
After about 15 minutes, police found the snake — curled up inside the vehicle’s dashboard.
Turns out it never left.
