An American Airline flight was diverted briefly to Kansas City on Tuesday morning after an unruly passenger threatened to open the cabin door, according to authorities.
The landing at Kansas City International Airport occurred about 11:30 a.m. The flight originated in Albuquerque, N.M., and was on its way to Chicago when the pilot determined it was necessary to circle back to Kansas City because of the unruly passenger, said Joe McBride, KCI spokesman.
The passenger only threatened to open the door and did not make any movements. No injuries were reported. The passenger was escorted off the plane in Kansas City and interviewed by the FBI and airport police before being released, McBride said.
The flight resumed its trip to Chicago and was expected to land just before 2 p.m.
