Charge filed in OP hit and run

An Overland Park woman has been charged with leaving the scene of a traffic accident that injured a teenage pedestrian in June.

Skyler Breann Smith, 21, was charged Tuesday in Johnson County District Court with a felony count of failing to stop at the scene of an injury accident. Smith also was charged with a misdemeanor count of driving with a suspended license.

An 18-year-old suffered critical injuries June 10 when struck by a vehicle while trying to cross Nall Avenue near 123rd Street. The victim has been released from the hospital, police said Tuesday.

Bond for Smith was set at $10,000. If she posts bond, a judge ordered that she not be allowed to drive while the case is pending.
