Grandview getting bigger recycling center

Starting Monday, Grandview’s dropoff recycling center will be in a new, larger location.

JobOne Recycling Services, previously known as the Foundation Workshop Inc., has operated the recycling center at 2nd and Main streets since 2008, with support from the city.

The new center, at 4405 E. 140th St., offers three times more space than the current site, according to a news release from JobOne.

The site, open around the clock, will accept plastics marked No. 1 through No. 7, instead of just No. 1 and No. 2.

Previously excluded containers that now can be recycled include salad dressing and cooking-oil bottles, peanut-butter and jam jars, juice bottles, squeezable bottles for ketchup and mustard, yogurt containers, margarine tubs, shampoo and hand-soap bottles.

In addition, one bin will accept various kinds of material recyclables so residents don’t have to sort them first.

“People have really supported recycling efforts in this community. We are excited to grow our capacity to meet the needs of residents and businesses,” said Delores Buffa, JobOne’s vice president of operations, said in a statement.
