A man in his mid-30s is fighting for his life Wednesday morning after a friend allegedly stabbed him with a sword when horseplay went awry.
Police responded to a reported stabbing about 3:30 a.m. Wednesday in the 6400 block of West 151st Place in Overland Park.
Officers found the victim suffering a stab wound to his abdomen. He was rushed to the hospital with life-threatening injuries, said Officer Gary Mason, a spokesman for Overland Park police.
The two friends were horse-playing when it got out of hand and they started grappling and wrestling, Mason said.
Then the suspect, a 26-year-old Overland Park man, got upset, grabbed a sword and stabbed his friend, Mason said.
The suspect was arrested and is being held in Johnson County jail on suspicion of aggravated battery that caused great bodily harm.
