Reward offered in KC metal theft

A $3,000 reward is being offered for information about the theft of numerous aluminum poles in Kansas City.

The poles, bases and heads held pedestrian crossing signals near Interstate 70 and the Paseo and were discovered missing May 14. The Missouri Department of Transportation estimates a loss to taxpayers of about $30,000. Officials believe the material was stolen to be sold as scrap metal. It will take about three weeks to replace them.

The reward is being offered for information leading to an arrest. Anonymous information can be provided by calling the TIPS Hotline at 816-474-8477.
