Search crews were back on Big Creek in Johnson County, Mo., on Tuesday morning looking for a Kingsville teen who is presumed to have drowned Sunday when he and some friends had to bail from a sinking boat.
The other two teens were able to swim to shore when their boat took on water about 15 miles east of Harrisonville. The survivors told authorities they were exploring the flooded creek when their boat took on water after hitting something.
“We’ll be looking all day and waiting for the water to go down,” David Miller, fire chief of Johnson County Fire District No. 2, said Tuesday morning.
The other two teens said the missing friend tried to hang on to a limb but had to let go, and they never saw him again.
