Kansas City police plan Northland curfew sweep Friday

Police will look for juveniles out after curfew in the Northland on Friday.

The operation is intended to urge children and their parents to observe Kansas City’s curfew ordinance, which prohibits unsupervised youths from being out late at night. Area schools have been alerted of the sweeps, police said.

The ordinance says people under age 18 may not “loiter, wander, stroll or play” in public places from 11 p.m. to 6 a.m. Sundays through Thursdays and from midnight to 6 a.m. Fridays and Saturdays.

Juveniles taken into custody will be held at the Shoal Creek station at 6801 N.E. Pleasant Valley Road until their parents or guardians pick them up.
