Water shoots high into the air after main breaks in south Kansas City

Water shot high in the air after a main broke in south Kansas City Friday morning.

The 6-inch water line broke sometime after 7 a.m. near Red Bridge and Wornall roads, sending water shooting up in to the air and cutting service to 20 residences and two nearby churches, according to Jennifer Kincaid, media relations coordinator for Kansas City Water Services.

Crews were on the scene by 7:30 a.m. and quickly shut off water so they could begin repairs.

The water department expected repairs to be completed and water service restored by noon.

The repair work was not impacting traffic.
