Second man charged in deadly Independence shooting

A second man has been charged in an Independence shooting that left a man dead last week.

Taz Anguiano, 22, of Kansas City, is charged with second-degree murder and armed criminal action after the shooting death of Charles J. Dunnington.

Last week, Jackson County authorities charged Finesse O’Banion of Independence with identical offenses in the incident.

Late on May 13 police responded to a residence in the 11300 block of East 11th Street in Independence, where they found Dunnington with a gunshot wound to the head. He died at a hospital.

According to court records, one witness who shared the residence with Dunnington told investigators that O’Banion had telephoned her several times before the shooting. At one point, O’Banion said that he and another man were coming over to confront Dunnington who, O’Banion told the witness, owed him $300 in a drug debt.

O’Banion said he also was upset because he had heard that Dunnington and another man were planning to rob him, the court records said.
