Bethany, Mo., man convicted of murder in son’s death

A northwest Missouri man has been convicted of murder in the death of his 7-year-old son whose body was found in the family's burned-out mobile home.

Tony King, 29, of Bethany, was found guilty of first-degree murder, arson and felony child abuse Thursday in Buchanan County court.

He was charged in the death of his 7-year-old son, Jeremiah Lamm. The boy's body was found in the bedroom of the family's burned mobile home on Jan. 11, 2012. Prosecutors said King killed the boy and burned the mobile home to conceal the crime.

Defense lawyer Kelly Miller said the fire was an accident and that the arson investigation and Jeremiah's autopsy were “fatally flawed.”

A sentencing hearing is set for June 13.
