Fütbol Club Eatery & Tap, a soccer-themed restaurant and bar, opens in Overland Park

The new Fütbol Club Eatery & Tap is flat out targeting soccer fans.

The restaurant and bar, which opened today in Overland Park, features more than a dozen TVs for watching MLS and international games. There are framed covers of Sports Illustrated featuring soccer stars and a menu with items named after them.

In back is a 2,000-square-foot private event space called The Pitch (after the soccer playing field) which seats up to 100 people. The room features team logos on the walls and framed jerseys from top players, along with a wall-size high-definition projection TV.

But some people attending pre-opening events last weekend were less concerned about the soccer and more concerned about the food.

The Kick-off Selections include Beckenbauer’s warm Bavarian potato chips and dip and Echeverry’s steamed edamame. Under burgers and sandwiches are the Besler burger with Welsh rarebit cheese sauce and Maldini’s meatball grinder. World Specialties include Pele’s home-style pot roast and Harry Keough’s raspberry chipotle grilled spare ribs. The menu also includes pecan cranberry chicken salad sandwiches, Caesar salad, grilled Scottish salmon, spaghetti and meatballs, and create-your-own pizzas.

Fütbol also will serve breakfast on Saturdays and Sundays for viewing of the Premier League games. Items include biscuits and gravy, corned beef hash and breakfast burritos, along with the Full Monty (two fried eggs, breakfast potatoes, baked beans, grilled pork bangers, blood sausage and grilled tomato, served with grilled bread and fruit preserves).

A children’s menu includes Tournament Meals, a selection of low-salt, low-fat and high carb items “for those who want to perform at their maximum potential.” It also has a rewards program that will benefit local soccer clubs.

Leap Hospitality, a Kansas City-based restaurant concept and management company, is representing a local investment group in the new Fütbol in the Pinnacle Village, 12030 Blue Valley Parkway.
